The primary challenge in the residential areas was to create a discreet yet effective ventilation solution that provided consistent airflow throughout the private living spaces. To achieve this, MAPUK supplied a selection of high-performance air distribution products designed for flush installation into the apartment ceilings, ensuring both functionality and aesthetics were upheld.
MAPUK’s product range for the residential apartments included, LDB12/8 linear slot diffusers, these high-induction diffusers were integrated into the living rooms and bedroom spaces to ensure even and effective air distribution, maintaining thermal comfort throughout the individual units. CKS return air diffusers, to complement the supply diffusers were installed to facilitate balanced air circulation, essential for maintaining a comfortable indoor climate.
The installation in the residential apartments posed unique challenges, requiring careful adaptation to ensure optimal performance and aesthetic integration. MAPUK developed custom solutions to overcome these challenges. The residential units were designed with a modern, minimalist aesthetic, making it essential for the ventilation system to remain as unobtrusive as possible. To achieve this, MAPUK supplied bespoke plaster subframes for the LDB12/8 linear slot diffusers, allowing them to be flush-mounted into the plasterboard ceilings. This provided a clean, streamlined finish that preserved the visual appeal of the interiors.
Each supply diffuser was fitted with internally insulated plenums to reduce noise transmission and improve thermal efficiency, ensuring that the ventilation system operated quietly—an important feature for residential comfort.
In the residential units, it was also crucial to prevent any light from the ceiling void from penetrating the return air diffusers, which could disrupt the tranquil atmosphere of the living spaces. To address this, MAPUK designed and manufactured custom vision-proof plates that mounted to the back of the return diffusers, effectively blocking any light transfer while maintaining efficient airflow.
The successful delivery of tailored ventilation solutions for the residential section of Guildford Station Block E underscores MAPUK’s expertise in managing complex residential projects. By working closely with Cundall and Gray’s Mechanical Services , MAPUK was able to provide a customised solution that balanced technical precision with aesthetic sensitivity, enhancing both the functionality and visual appeal of the living spaces.
