One Braham

One Braham the global headquarters and Central Office for BT, is situated in Aldgate, London. MAPUK is proud to have contributed our technical knowledge and expertise to this iconic project.

Through close collaboration with the design team and architects, we meticulously devised effective solutions to address the complex challenges presented. The building's expansive full-height glazing posed significant heat loads, substantial heat losses, and exposed building services, requiring innovative strategies across its expansive interiors.

At MAPUK, we were honoured to apply our technical prowess to the esteemed One Braham, serving as BT's global headquarters and Central Office in the heart of Aldgate, London. Teaming up closely with the design team and architects, we tackled the challenge of overcoming specific architectural obstacles to deliver unparalleled ventilation solutions.

One Braham presented a distinctive set of hurdles, including expansive full-height glazing, substantial heat loads, heat losses and exposed building services, leading to minimal ceiling space throughout much of the structure. Given its prominent public visibility, our design played a crucial role in crafting an efficient ventilation system that seamlessly complemented the building's contemporary aesthetic.

In collaboration with building consultant HDR, we proposed a strategic solution in line with the architect's vision. Leveraging our expertise, we selected the LDB12/8 high induction linear diffuser and DLA7 high induction swirl diffuser for their exceptional performance in spaces devoid of traditional ceilings. These diffusers, accompanied by matching plenums, were strategically installed across all 18 levels of the building, in both exposed and plasterboard configurations.

The adaptable nature of the DLA7 diffusers, featuring adjustable configurations even after installation, offered a versatile solution adaptable to varying room conditions. Their highly inductive, fanned rotational flow efficiently managed high cooling loads while ensuring optimal comfort levels.

Meanwhile, the LDB12/8 linear diffusers provided increased air volume capabilities at reduced noise levels, making them an ideal fit for this high-profile architectural endeavour.

Our efforts not only ensured an aesthetically pleasing environment but also prioritised optimum comfort for the building's 3,500 occupants, solidifying One Braham's status as a beacon of architectural excellence.
