MAPUK, renowned for its expertise in commercial projects, was handpicked to provide ventilation solutions to three floors of Category A office space at Appold Street. Leveraging our extensive experience in designing and executing office environments, we embarked on the task of infusing modernity and functionality into these workspaces.
The project's focal point was navigating the delicate balance between preserving the architectural feature of a partially exposed, panelled ceiling on one level, while fostering an open and inviting ambiance throughout the workspace. Working in collaboration with Cundall, MAPUK embraced the challenge of transforming three floors of Cat A office accommodation into a modern, inviting and open workspace, setting a new standard for contemporary office environments.
One of the initial challenges encountered was the mandate to preserve the unique aesthetic of a partially exposed, panelled ceiling on one of the levels. Traditional diffusers, reliant on ceiling or coanda plates, proved inadequate for the project's requirements. Maintaining the integrity of the distinctive ceiling design while ensuring optimal air distribution demanded innovative solutions beyond conventional applications.
MAPUK's seasoned team met this challenge head-on by implementing bespoke solutions centered around the use of LDB20/8 high induction diffusers. These cutting-edge diffusers were strategically integrated into three distinct setups: standard plasterboard ceilings, bespoke plank tile ceilings and an exposed services element. The project involved the engineering of sleek exposed plenum boxes featuring diffuser spring clip fixtures, meticulously designed to seamlessly blend into the architectural environment, especially around the glazed perimeter.
The result? An environment prioritising well-being and productivity. Through our tailored approach and innovative solutions, Appold Street now boasts a contemporary, spacious and open office environment. The high induction diffusers operate with minimal noise and deliver the superior thermal and acoustic comfort required in a modern office setting.
