For a £45 million car dealership which towers above the M4/A4 corridor in West London, the interior specification had to be in keeping with the design and engineering ethos of one of the world’s most successful luxury car manufacturers. To meet these stringent aesthetic and technological requirements, MAP have supplied an array of diffusers as part of a high performance ventilation system.

On the Great West Road in Brentford, the seven storey Audi West London dealership covers 190,000 sq feet with three showroom floors capable of displaying 116 cars along with two basement levels for servicing and parking facilities. The top two storeys house a business and creative complex which operates as a conference centre.

For the showroom and office floors, which featured full height, inclined and curved glazing, MAP designed and specified a ventilation system including 200 LDB linear diffusers which met with the design ethos of Audi whilst at the same time minimising visual impact and maintaining a consistent temperature throughout this retail palace.

“The building had an unusual footprint which became larger as it went up,” commented Barry Hobday, Director at MAP. “This presented some challenges, especially when trying to match the curved facets of the building with our diffusers.”

Installed by specialist contractor Mitie Engineering Services, the diffusers were facetted to follow the slight curve of the building. Comprising a number of slot nozzles with an optimised interior and profile contour, the LDB’s allow treated air to be distributed precisely throughout the airy and light showroom environment to ensure both thermal and acoustic comfort for staff and customers.

With this impressive cutting edge retail facility open for business, MAP have once again played their part in providing in-room air technologies which are practical, economical and aesthetically pleasing.
